Description
The word “probiotic” literally means “for life,” and it refers to “friendly” microbes that naturally inhabit the gut. The healthy human intestinal tract contains trillions of bacteria that are called “symbiotic,” meaning that they live in harmony with humans and for their mutual benefit. Yeast and bacterial species, such as Streptococcus, Lactobacillus, and Bifidobacterium bacteria, are commonly found in these microorganisms.
